Saturday, December 3 Home Goodbye Thailand. I will miss you. I will return.

Goodbye friends. I wish you further fun and adventures.

I safetly arrived in America and greeted by S. Not much culture shock yet. Luckily I came back to San Francisco and not a totally valueless city. But everyone looks so well dressed and uptight here. Explored some beautiful outdoor haunts and ate some Vietnamese soup after a sizable strong coffee for breakfast. Oh well, adventure to come. It has only just begun.

Hi,

I really like the story and the photos.

I have to point out that one of the photos stated as Durian is actually a Jack friut. Photo information : http://www.nikdaum.com/asia/images/4.jpg

Here is a photo of Durian : http://web.singnet.com.sg/~tonym/durian.html

I understand your reactions to Thailand. Understnad that some of it is that you are freed from the restraints of US culture while not having to endure those you would have had if you were born there.

It is still a great place. Thai who come here generally come for the hitech edu and opportunity, though Thailand is catching up. Did you know they now are the 3rd largest producer of pickup trucks and export them all over Asia?

I have a Thai friend who just retired from surgery and built himself a 4,000 sq ft villa for less than $20,000.

Of course that was not in Bangkok but out in the country. Try to learn Thai while you have the opportunity to be there and use it.

Good luck, An old Asianhand. DVM
