Nest and Snow

High above the atrium of my office sits a nest of branches. Made by North Carolina artist Patrick Dougherty, the sculpture uses local wood to create a warm, intricately enclosed meeting room. Inside, it’s furnished with artistic lamps and a log-like enormous felt couch. Sitting there above the pointless bustle of mind-manipulation and product hock, you feel as aloof as bird. The shit splatters far below the canopy, a distant noise that puts everything in perspective.



This Saturday, a group of friends and I went to inner-tube/snowboard at Cooper’s Spur, a small slope at the base of Mt. Hood. The tubing runs were pretty pathetic, even to me who has never been before. After an hour or so, we decided to carve with the big boys. It was a fun time had by us and all of our levels of experience. I finally was able to side wind without falling every time. Next trip I will be good enough to break some knees. Photos:
