A Walk in the Woods

Today was drizzly but not very cold. J. and I decided to go for a walk on some short trails maintained by the Audubon Society. A few photos:

Here’s Julian, the horned owl that the facility is raising because he’s too old to be set free. This bird of prey greeted us with a hoot as if we were expected. Its eyes were glassy and large, and combined with its size and coloring made it seem very cat like. I wish I had brought some dead mice to feed it. And although the lake nearby was filled with brown Dunn’s salamanders, all we ended up eating was delicious pomegranate.

In other news, The Rapture performed at work earlier this week.
