In San Francisco

February 8th, 2010: San Francisco

Two photos from our hotel balcony today.

J. and I arrived in San Francisco this morning. The weather was perfect: clear air, blue skies, mild weather.

We hauled our numerous pieces of luggage up the thirty degree incline of Powell St. from the BART station, dropped them off at the hotel, got some lunch in bustling Chinatown, and checked in. Our room is on the eighteenth floor, looking east over the rest of downtown, with views of Coit Tower, the bay, Treasure Island, and the East Bay in the distance. The panorama is gorgeous, and it fills my heart with joy.

Today has been filled with pleasant omens. I had forgotten how pleasurable it is to put feet to street and explore this wonderful city. Hopefully the exercise will compensate for all the chow along the way.

Posts might be slow in the next fortnight, but rest assured that I’m still taking photos.

Welcome to Nik Daum’s blog.

This journal helps me remember how little I do and how pointless my life is, share my mundane experiences with others, and improve my writing and photography. I recently moved back to San Francisco from Shanghai, so most of the posts will focus on life around the Bay Area. If you’re not a Nigerian finance minister or in possession of Viagra deals, feel free to leave your comments.
