Fuxing Park, Lupu Bridge

Saturday was spent between work emails. Luckily, I had time to spend with J. in Fuxing in Park and on a second visit to the top of Lupu Bridge. The weather was perfect, sunny and dry with mild temperature. Hordes were out in the park, playing cards, chatting around tea, listening to fortune-tellers, flying kites, ballroom dancing, roller-blading, practicing Tai Chi, singing. It was a lively environment. Chinese parks are wonderful when the people are out.

In the afternoon, J. and I paid our 36RMB($5.50) each to go up to the top of Lupu Bridge. Last December, we went too but the air was so cold and windy we didn’t stay on the platform for very long. We were curious how much progress had been made on the Shanghai Expo site since then. The answer: a lot. A few of the pavilions look nearly complete from the outside and some of the landscaping along the river is complete. The view from the top of the bridge is made even more inspiring by such massive changes going on below.
